TEAM GTJ! - The Interview

So... tell us about yourself:

Team GTJ! was formed in response to the national jobs crisis that developed as a result of the global Coronavirus pandemic in 2020. We were already running our sister company Flair CVs - providing bespoke CV services, but as thousands of people began to lose their jobs, demand for help with job hunting became so great that we knew we needed to do more.

So we collated our expertise in online job hunting, writing cover letters and CVs and preparing for interviews into one great, low cost package that anyone can access - 'GTJ! UK Ultimate Job-Hunting Toolkit'. The package also includes a professional CV edit by one of our expert CV consultants. It's a unique service that means we can help many more people, more quickly and at an affordable price point.

OK, what are your key strengths?

Lockdown taught us that we can think creatively and adapt to changing circumstances quickly.

But primarily our core strengths and skills are in writing powerful CVs for people to help them get the job interviews that they want, need and deserve. We're also canny cover letter writers and expert coaches in job-interview technique. We have decades of combined experience in the team.

What are your weaknesses?

Chocolate biscuits. (Never say this in an interview by the way!) Well, as the COVID-19 crisis happened and we went into lockdown and people began losing work, we realised that there were a lot of people we couldn't help with our current business model at Flair CVs. Whilst it's great to offer completely bespoke services, they do, by their very nature take more time, effort and of course money. So we spent lockdown discussing how we could change that and improve our service offering and make it more inclusive. Now we have something which can help people immediately, but that still contains a bespoke element where it most counts - the CV. It's the best of both worlds.

What do you like most about your job?

It might sound like a cliche - but helping people is what we all love to do! We never dread Monday mornings - we look forward to them and that's the same feeling that we want for our clients too. It's extremely rewarding to hear back from someone who's landed a great new job because of the help that we've given them. Other things we love are meeting new people (albeit virtually), the variety of helping people from all different industry sectors and working to high standards. We take a lot of pride in what we do; we're fussy over the detail and that's really important when crafting the documents that we do.

Where do you see yourselves in 5 years time?

Looking at our current business trajectory and our service offering, we'd hope to be able to expand further into digital services, podcasts and video etc. In this way we could help more people, more easily by offering lots more free advice and support. It's likely that job hunting processes themselves won't change much, so we'll still be offering the same core services - but with a larger team of people. A larger team will mean more experience and ideas and the ability to help more people get into better jobs and happier lives.
